Right in the centre of Sint-Niklaas is the sixteenth-century Walburg Castle. The castle was commissioned by knight Waelwijck and is just a stone's throw from the market square. BLAUWENDAEL CASTLE
A new estate was built on the foundations of the 17th-century castle by Baron de Neve de Rode in 1889. The municipality bought the castle from the family and it currently houses a museum with several exhibition rooms.

Cortwalle Castle is one of the oldest castles in the Waasland region and dates back to the 15th century. The count's family de Brouchoven de Bergeyck lived there for centuries in the moated castle. The accumulated art collection can still be viewed there today.
